Branden Andersen, owner of Maker Bee Consulting, was working at a Portland-local marketing agency learning the ins and outs of agency marketing.
He had started meeting with a business owner in the same building who said he needed help with accountability. He had so many things going on, he wanted to make sure he was following a path that would benefit his business most versus jumping from fire to fire.
Those meetings led to Branden’s first client, which would help launch

What is a ‘Maker Bee’?
Maker Bee (n.) /ˈmeɪkər bi /
A marketing, project management, and consulting resource for solopreneurs, entrepreneurs, and business owners.
Maker Bee Consulting started targeted at makers; most artists with immense talent but no time or interest in the business side of business.
We didn’t really have the creative talent, but boy did we love operating and optimizing small business.
So came Maker Bee v.1 — a hive for talented individuals who needed help staying on track and growing their business so they could leave their corporate jobs and take their side hustle full time.
Since then we’ve added multiple clients in several industries ranging from liquor to real estate to tattoo removal. We’ve diversified our services to include several marketing offerings like Search Engine Optimization (SEO), website design and development, and content marketing for small businesses.
